A phenomenal pearl work or weddingwork brooch circa 1830. Pearlwork has recently become extremely desirable among collectors for its frothy, feminine aesthetic, and romantic history; pearl work pieces were often given as wedding gifts to new brides, hand made by loving, crafty family members. Each pearl has been fastened to the mother of pearl backing using blanched horsehair which has remained untouched and in perfect condition since the jewel was made. This brooch has a the incredible original feature of the fitted box, as well, to make it a stellar addition to any collection. I have shown it with our Eloise pearl necklace, to illustrate how perfectly it becomes a collar as well.
