A large, lovely Halley’s Comet brooch, circa 1835, this wonderful 9k gold and Sterling Silver English jewel was likely made to commemorate the second sighting of Halley’s Comet, which comes around every 75 years or so!

The first known pass of the comet was 1758; predicted by Edmund Halley decades prior, based on his astronomical calculations. This very large scale brooch with blooming floral symbolism has a trailing comet tail of rose cut diamonds, and boasts over 1.10cts (estimated) of diamonds, with 18 in total, and a central rose cut of .15cts.
